My Seventh Book Is Coming This September: A Season in the Snow
Just a few weeks ago, this book didn't exist. Three weeks and almost 400 pages later, A Season in the Snow was complete — and this September, Thomas Bennett's journey continues into the Austrian Alps.
I am incredibly excited to announce that my seventh book, A Season in the Snow, will be published this September.
What makes this book particularly special is that just a few weeks ago, it didn't exist.
I had been thinking about where I wanted to take the story following A Season in the Sun, and then something simply clicked. I started writing, the characters came back to life, and the story began to flow. Three weeks and almost 400 pages later, the novel was complete, proofed and approved for publication.
Sometimes a story just wants to be written.
A Season in the Snow continues the journey of Thomas Bennett, but this time we leave the Mediterranean sunshine behind and head into a completely different world.
The story begins in Kent during the winter of 1984. Thomas has recently returned from his first overseas season in Spain, but home no longer feels quite the same. The young man who returned to England is not the same person who left it. When an unexpected telephone call from Sunshine Holidays offers him the opportunity to work the winter season in St. Johann in Tirol, Austria, another adventure begins.
Soon Thomas is travelling from London Victoria across Europe towards the Austrian Alps, where mountains, snow, skiing and Christmas await him. It is another season of friendships, relationships, laughter, challenges and unexpected moments, but against a wonderfully different backdrop.
At its heart, though, A Season in the Snow is about something much bigger.
It is about that period in life when the world suddenly begins to open up. It is about taking opportunities, occasionally making mistakes, meeting people who change us and discovering that the safest path is not always the one we are supposed to follow.
Writing this novel has been an absolute joy. I never wanted it to feel like work, and perhaps that is why it came together so naturally. I loved returning to these characters and discovering where the next season would take them.
And now, remarkably, my seventh book is finished.
