Wesley Baker: Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO

For more than four decades Wesley has founded, built and led businesses, developed new products and concepts, entered new markets and pursued opportunities across industries ranging from travel and aviation to medical devices, aerospace, software and artificial intelligence.

The Common Thread

One career, many industries.

Wesley is not somebody who has drifted through unrelated industries. The thread running through forty years is the same one every time: seeing an opportunity, founding a business around it, developing the concept or technology, building the partnerships and the team, and taking it into international markets.

That instinct has carried him through travel and airlines, European distribution, manufacturing, medical devices, scientific detection technology, software, artificial intelligence and aerospace. It now feeds directly into PURE ONE Group, his investment and acquisition activity, and the new technology ventures he is developing now.

His books and storytelling are another chapter of the same life rather than a separate identity — the same places, the same industries, the same people, written down. Explore the books.

Experience

Where the work has taken him.

01

Travel & Tourism

Travel has been at the centre of Wesley's professional career for more than forty years. It began with overseas seasons on the Mediterranean in the 1980s and became a career of creating, launching, developing and leading travel businesses.

His experience spans tour operations, destination and product development, international markets, commercial partnerships and the day-to-day realities of moving people around the world. Travel is not simply the backdrop to his books — it is one of his principal areas of professional expertise, and the experience that ultimately underpins his leadership of PURE ONE Group today.

  • Creating and launching travel businesses
  • Tour operations and product development
  • International markets and partnerships
  • Leadership across four decades of industry change
02

Airlines & Aviation

Wesley's travel-industry career has included involvement in launching airline businesses, giving him entrepreneurial experience across both travel and aviation.

Aviation is one of the most demanding commercial environments there is — capital intensive, tightly regulated and unforgiving of poor planning. The experience shaped how Wesley approaches risk, partnerships and the operational detail behind an idea that looks simple from the outside.

03

PURE ONE Group

Wesley is Founder and CEO of PURE ONE Group — the current major chapter of his entrepreneurial career.

PURE ONE draws directly on everything that came before it: decades in travel, business development across international markets, technology and software, and the habit of building companies from an opportunity rather than a business plan. Wesley's role is that of founder and chief executive — setting direction, developing new concepts and building the relationships and teams the group grows through.

Detailed corporate and product information lives on the group's own website. This page is about Wesley's entrepreneurial relationship with it.

04

Medical Devices & Detection Technology

Wesley was Founder and CEO of a medical-device company based in Minnesota, USA, for approximately seven years, building and leading the business while developing innovative breath-detection technology.

The work brought together entrepreneurship, medical devices, scientific innovation, technology development, company building, leadership and hands-on experience of doing business in the United States.

  • Founder and CEO level responsibility
  • Breath-detection technology development
  • Science-led product and company building
  • US market experience
05

Aerospace, Rockets & Commercial Space

Wesley was Founder and CEO of a space and aerospace rocket company. The company worked on the development of concepts associated with space tourism flights, rocket technology, satellite launch systems and commercial space opportunities.

This is genuine previous entrepreneurial experience at founder level, distinct from — though connected to — Wesley's continuing personal and commercial interest in space and emerging aerospace technologies.

06

Software Development

Wesley has founder-level entrepreneurial experience developing software products across several sectors, including travel-industry software, gaming software, artificial intelligence and other commercial software opportunities.

Software has been an established part of his entrepreneurial background rather than a late addition to it — building products, assembling development teams and taking them to market.

07

Artificial Intelligence

Wesley has been involved as a founder in the development of one of the UK's early generative-AI software ventures.

He is currently developing and exploring further AI software opportunities, particularly applications designed for specific industry sectors where domain knowledge matters as much as the model. His interest is in developing and commercialising AI products — building things people use — rather than commentary from the sidelines.

08

Security, Defence & Advanced Detection

Wesley has held Board Director-level experience within an innovative science and technology company working in advanced detection, including technology relating to the detection of chemical, biological and weapons-related threats.

It represents another part of his long involvement with science-led and emerging technology businesses. For obvious reasons, the detail of that work is not published here.

09

Manufacturing & Product Development

Wesley's entrepreneurial experience also includes manufacturing and product development. In home fragrance, this covered manufacturing and the commercial development of products for retail. In watersports and surf lifestyle, it covered the manufacture and development of equipment for the water.

The second of those connects commercial manufacturing directly to a lifelong personal involvement in surfing and the sea — making products for a world he has been part of since childhood.

10

European Distribution & Lifestyle Brands

Wesley has Founder and CEO experience in the distribution of lifestyle clothing and accessory brands across Europe.

The work spanned European distribution networks, lifestyle brand and clothing markets, accessories, international sales, brand development and long-running commercial partnerships.

11

Investing in Businesses & People

Wesley invests in and acquires businesses where his experience can genuinely contribute to their development and growth. It is not passive financial investment.

What he brings alongside capital is four decades of building companies: strategy, commercial development, relationships and introductions, help with teams and structure, and honest mentoring from someone who has made the mistakes already. This is an area of activity that continues to grow.

12

Property Investment & Development

Property is an expanding area within Wesley's wider entrepreneurial and investment interests, covering acquisition, investment and development opportunities. More will be added here as that activity develops.

Innovation & Future Technology

What happens next.

Wesley's continuing interest is in what is being built now — and what becomes possible because of it. This is an area that will grow here over time through articles, podcasts and new ventures.

Business Philosophy

How Wesley builds.

Build around opportunities, not plans

Almost every business Wesley has founded started as something he noticed rather than something he set out to do.

Relationships and trust first

Four decades of international business have run on people who keep their word — and on being one of them.

Calculated risk

Aviation, medical devices and rockets are not forgiving industries. Risk is taken deliberately, with the downside understood.

Good teams beat good ideas

Ideas are cheap. The people who turn one into a company are not.

Adaptability and reinvention

Industries change, recessions arrive, technology moves. Reinvention has been a constant rather than an emergency.

Learning from mistakes

The failures taught more than the successes, and they are worth being honest about.

Long-term thinking

Partnerships, brands and books are all built slowly. So is a reputation.

Helping others grow

Mentoring founders and helping businesses develop is now as much a part of the work as building them.

Speaking, media and business enquiries.

Wesley speaks and writes on entrepreneurship, travel, aviation, AI, technology and commercial space — and welcomes conversations about investment, acquisition and partnership opportunities.
