Sunshine Seasons

Fiction built from the same coastlines as the memoirs. Sunshine Seasons follows young people who go abroad for one summer and come home changed — a series about freedom, friendship, first love and the cost of both.

What the series is

Where the Echoes memoirs report what happened, Sunshine Seasons imagines what might have. The novels take the world of the 1980s Mediterranean resort season — the bars, the buses, the impossible hours — and put invented characters inside it.

The result reads as warm, romantic, character-driven fiction with a strong sense of place, rather than as holiday escapism with a beach on the cover.

Who the books are for

Readers of Jojo Moyes, David Nicholls and Santa Montefiore will find the register familiar: relationships written honestly, humour that carries weight, endings that resist easy resolution.

They are also a natural next step for anyone who read the memoirs and wanted to stay in that world a little longer.

Reading order

A Season in the Sun opens the series and can be read entirely on its own. A Season in the Snow follows as book two, moving the Sunshine Seasons world from the Costa Brava to the Austrian Alps.
